About Angus

INSPIRATION

The best physiotherapists are like detectives. The answers are there if you know how to listen, observe and feel. I have been told that there are three keys to professional success: love what you do, get rewarded for it, and make a difference to someone else. Physiotherapy checks all the boxes for me.

Angus Driver, BA, BPHE, BHSc (PT), FCAMPT, Cert. GunnIMS

Registered Physiotherapist | Advanced Manipulative Therapy | Spinal Rehabilitation & Sports Injury

Angus is a highly experienced physiotherapist, educator, and published author with 29 years of private practice experience specializing in manual therapy and sports injury rehabilitation. As co-owner of Adelaide West Physiotherapy for over two decades, he has built a reputation as one of the most skilled and knowledgeable manual therapists in the clinic — particularly for patients dealing with complex, chronic, or treatment-resistant conditions.

Angus holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education, and a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy, along with a Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT) — a designation held by fewer than 5% of physiotherapists in Canada — and a Certified Gunn IMS Practitioner, trained in one of the most effective dry needling approaches available for chronic and neuropathic pain.

Published Author & Educator

Angus brings a depth of expertise that extends well beyond clinical practice. He is the co-author of two widely used professional physiotherapy textbooks — The Upper Quadrant Manual Therapy Workbook and The Lower Quadrant Manual Therapy Workbook — resources used to train physiotherapists across Canada. He also served for over 20 years as an Instructor in the Orthopaedic Division AIM program of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, shaping the next generation of advanced manual therapists nationwide.

What Angus Treats

Angus’s clinical focus includes:

  • Acute and chronic neck and back pain, including complex spinal conditions
  • Sports injuries across all levels, including elite athletes and ballet dancers
  • Shoulder dysfunction and rehabilitation
  • Foot pain and lower extremity conditions
  • Ergonomic and computer-related postural injuries
  • Complex, chronic musculoskeletal conditions — including patients who have not found relief elsewhere

Angus’s Approach to Care

Angus approaches every patient as a whole person, not simply a collection of symptoms. He is highly skilled at assessing the entire musculoskeletal system to identify the true underlying cause of a problem — distinguishing between what he describes as the “victims versus culprits” — the site of pain versus the source of it. This clinical reasoning framework is what allows him to achieve results with complex cases that have not responded to previous treatment.

His treatment approach is deliberately structured and progressive. Early sessions are front-loaded with advanced manual therapy — including expert-level spinal manipulation — and GunnIMS dry needling to restore proper joint mechanics and address chronic neuropathic muscle tightness. As symptoms improve, the focus transitions to targeted exercise prescription emphasizing deep core recruitment, postural balance, proper breathing mechanics, and shoulder function. From there, exercise progressively advances toward functional movement patterns, sport-specific training, and long-term maintenance strategies.

Most patients can expect to see significant improvement within six treatment sessions. More complex or chronic conditions may require a longer course of consistent care, followed by periodic maintenance as needed.

A Little More About Angus

Angus chose physiotherapy for a simple reason: he loves it, it allows him to make a genuine difference in people’s lives, and — perhaps uniquely — it has also helped him manage his own physical health.

He has personal experience with numerous sports injuries and has dealt with chronic lower back issues since the age of 19. In his mid-40s, persistent back problems driven by chronic neuropathic muscle tightness became a significant challenge — until he discovered the transformative impact of GunnIMS dry needling firsthand. Combined with a consistent strength training practice focused on compound functional movements and dynamic core control, Angus has effectively managed his back health for over 12 years.

That lived experience gives him a uniquely empathetic and practical perspective. He knows what it feels like to be limited by pain, and he knows what it takes to get out of it — and stay out of it.
