About Kate

INSPIRATION

When I was in first-year university my brother broke his back while we were skiing together. I watched him rehabilitate with the help of a Physiotherapist, which fed my desire to help people recover from injury, one step at a time.

LIVES BY

Don’t worry about the things you can’t control and focus on what you can.

INTERESTS

Weight training, playing golf, volleyball, hanging out with my kids, eating great food and drinking awesome wine.

Kate Gladney, BSc (PT), FCAMPT, Cert. GunnIMS

Registered Physiotherapist | Advanced Manipulative Therapy | Clinical Acupuncture

Kate is a highly experienced physiotherapist with three decades of private practice experience, specializing in complex musculoskeletal conditions, spinal disorders, and neuropathic pain. She holds a Bachelor of Physical Education, a Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy, and a Diploma of Advanced Manipulative Physical Therapy — one of the most rigorous post-graduate credentials available to Canadian physiotherapists.

Kate is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT), a designation earned by fewer than 5% of physiotherapists in Canada, reflecting an exceptional level of training in hands-on assessment and treatment. She is also a Certified GunnIMS Acupuncturist, trained in a specialized form of clinical acupuncture used to treat chronic and neuropathic pain conditions.

Published Author & Educator

Kate brings a depth of expertise that extends well beyond clinical practice. She is the co-author of two widely used professional physiotherapy textbooks — The Upper Quadrant Manual Therapy Workbook and The Lower Quadrant Manual Therapy Workbook — resources used to train physiotherapists across Canada. Throughout her career, Kate has served both as an Instructor and a Mentor within the National Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, helping to train the next generation of physiotherapists across the country.

What Kate Treats

Kate’s clinical focus includes:

  • Complex spine conditions, including neck and low back pain
  • Complex hip conditions, including FAI, gluteal tendonopathy and post-surgical rehabilitation
  • Shoulder injuries and both pre- and post-surgical shoulder rehabilitation
  • Running-related injuries and return-to-sport recovery

Kate’s Approach to Care

Kate believes that lasting recovery comes from combining skilled hands-on treatment with patient education and active participation. While manual therapy is central to her practice, she places equal importance on designing specific, individualized exercise programs that support long-term recovery and injury prevention.

Kate is known for her empathetic, empowering approach — her goal is not simply to treat an injury, but to help each patient understand their condition, recognize early warning signs, and develop the confidence and tools to manage their own health independently.

“I believe everyone should be as active as they can for as long as they can — and I love being a part of keeping them moving.”
